Hi,

I have a little website (not many users by my own choice!) which I run off my isp/broadband supplier (entanet) free webspace.

Just for fun I started streaming audio for a handful of users at a time (in fact, one user acts as a relay because he has more upload bandwidth than I do).

Anyway, all that does eat into my "free" bandwidth, so I've been thinking about hosting the website elsewhere and running the stream from the same place. Traffic to the website is small - no big deal. The stream could require ~1Mbps on Saturday and Sunday evenings (and to stream I need to run an executable on the host server).

Any suggestions for a host (inc. domain name registration, web space, and streaming)?

TBH I dont know much about running a live stream so dont want to give you any duff info.

I use Vidahost for my own hosting needs as although perhaps not the cheapest, they do offer very competitive prices for UK hosting.. but the main thing for me is that their service is top notch and are always willing to help and are fast with their replies.

The other thing is that they will also offer 'bespoke' hosting if you need something a little bit different, so it may be worth while approaching them to ask what may be involved.

You can either contact them direct by phone or email .. or they have recently set up a forum where you may also be able to get some more info http://forum.vidahost.com/

very helpful indeed. Not tried the streaming yet, but they are helping me with it later.
