Title: Fibre line erratic. Possibly wind related?
Post by: zxcvbnm on February 11, 2018, 07:47:14 PM
My line ran at about 40mbps down and 7 up for several months without much of a hiccup.

The last few months its varied from 19mbps down to 35mbps. Snr has gone from 4 to 20 I think and attenuation from 25-27. Power from 1.2 to 6volts.  Fair amount for fec errors.

I am suspicious that when there is a big gale it starts disconnecting  and that leads the exchange to dial down my speed.

I don't know if my stats offer much of a clue to anything? I have switched back from the EE Brightbox to my old hg612 router to get more stats.

https://www.mydslwebstats.co.uk/Container.htm zxcvbnm (last on the list).

Welcome any thoughts before I try and kick up a fuss with my isp. (Its actually not terrible at this moment but I suspicious it will go haywire again.

Yup 25mph wind and rising, plus rain. Suddenly gone from 35mbps to 29 with attenuation from 25.1 to 26.4. more power too.

Snr from about 6 to now 11.

Grr. Maybe I should get a stepladder and coppice some overhanging branches.

I have had your circuit as my "target" in MDWS from the day of your initial post.

At my initial look, the only thing which stood out was the the "fine-tooth flea-comb" effect in the DS1 & DS2 bands of the QLN plot. Seeing that makes me suspicious of the AC balance of the circuit.

Following your second post, I took another look and captured two images . . . that of a section of the recent SNRM plot and the QLN plot. (Attached below.) Seeing them both, I am inclined to say that there does appear to be a defect in the metallic pathway.

If you are certain that there is physical tree - drop-cable interaction, then some tree surgery would be appropriate. Depending upon the cable's condition, it may need to be replaced.  :-\

Ouch! It looks as though last night was quite rough between 6pm and 9am this morning. :rain:

I hope you get to the bottom of the problem.... Want to borrow a chainsaw?

Earlier this afternoon, I took a look at the circuit's statistics (via MDWS) and the SNRM plot was one of the craziest that I have ever seen . . .
