Title: HG612, TP-LinkTD-W9980 Setup. Help Please.
Post by: nodsa on February 10, 2018, 08:06:46 AM
Hi everyone,
I've managed to unlock the Huawei hg612 as per info on Kitz(many thanks to all),but I'm struggling to setup the w9980  as a router. Can any of you fine people point me to a "for dummies" guide or thread?.....the simpler the better as I'm suffering from information overload atm  ???

Also, if  (actually when) ,I make a mistake with the 612, it seems the only way to access the modem is to reflash the unit, as the 10 second reset method leaves it inaccessible, is this normal or yet another brain fart on my part?

 Any help greatly appreciated,
regards
nodsa

Tp-Link have a number of downloadable guides for the W9980 here. (http://www.tp-link.com/il/download/TD-W9980.html)

Do any of those help?

Just use the quick setup wizard and select wireless router mode on the 9980. Don't forget to click 'save'.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the responses, sorry for the delay in getting back to you (either I went through the door or all the tech was going through the window!)
It seems that my basic problem has been a flat battery in the HG 612, so each time it was powered off it reverted to its original firmware/settings.
Does anyone know if this battery is replaceable?…
Regards,
nodsa

Hmm, I don't think there is a battery in an HG612 - the firmware settings will be held in NVRAM.
If it's going to default every time it's powered off then I think it's faulty. :(
