i have experienced a slight loss in connection speed over the last couple of months. I used to regularly get around 55-60mbs but noticed that it has recently dropped to around 36mb. Due to this i unlocked my huewei modem so that i could view line stats etc. below is the output from telnet session displaying my line stats. can anyone notice a problem here? Iv been scratching my head with this. Thanks

You may wish to get this moved to the FTTC thread as you are clearly on VDSL. :)
Your DS speed of 39994 looks rather like a banded profile.
Can't say when that happened but your line stats for 'previous 1 day time' are horrendous - what on earth was going on? :ouch:
The US UAS (Unavailable Seconds) is almost as many as there are in the day.
The 'lastest 1 day time' is pretty awful too.
With stats this bad I'd be looking at a line fault - have you tried a Quiet Line Test to see if there's audible noise on the line?
:)

Wow, something doesn't look right there.
As said above the line looks banded (capped) at 40Mb.
It's not done by your ISP, but by the OpenReach DLM which your ISP had no control over. The banding is usually applied for too many resyncs, either manually or the line dropping itself.
I'd be worried about the huge number of ES though. I don't think I've ever seen so many ES on an interleaved line.
The upstream also had nearly 60000 ES in 2 days.
I would advise setting up DslStats and uploading the data to MyDSLWebStats to allow us to see what's going on with your line. It's impossible to tell from a small snapshot of stats. Something looks up though.
Has your DSL cable been removed but the modem ruining in the past couple days?
Previous 1 day time = 24 hours 0 sec

Every single figure there looks whack. A crazy amount of FEC/CRC/ES/SES/UAS.
How can you have only 2000 crc on upstream but 50000+ Error Seconds.

Sorry guys im really not too clued up on this. I only recently fitted my unlocked modem (3 days ago). My Connection does seam to be very stable and doesnt drop, the main thing for me is the cap in speed when we used to get a solid 55mb. how would i do a "quite line test" many thanks for you replys.

For the Quiet Line Test dial 17070 and pick the appropriate option (I can't remember which number it is but it'll be clear enough).
You should then hear - well, nothing much at all really (perhaps a small background hiss).
It's best done on a corded phone if you have one.
:)

Thank you very much sir i will try this soon as im home from work :)

Here is also a snapshot image from inside of the webgui of my modem. Thanks

The modem webgui is full of bugs so can't be relied on for any information, some of it may be correct such as the sync speeds but not much else. Always use the telnet access to get the correct info.

QLT is 'Option 2' from 17070 ...... but most LLU's don't have that function, only BT classic circuits such as PlusNet, EE etc etc .....

Thanks Black Sheep -I've learnt something new. :hat:
I suppose the next best thing is to dial a single digit to clear the dial tone and listen to that (appreciating that it will time-out after about 20secs).
:)
