So I was provided this update from Openreach today and given permission to share with regards to ECI G.INP. sounds like its been fixed.. fingers crossed
"The ECI RETX fix has been delivered and extensively tested. It is being included in a full update to the network and this full release is under test. As you will appreciate there is an extensive formal test and release process to go through before such major new functionality is deployed in our live network. A network pilot, including CP’s is currently being planned with the CP’s for Summer 17 with the earliest decision being Autumn 17. There is likely then to be a controlled ramp up of deployment of the ECI RETX functionality into the network"

"hurrah!"

Hurrah indeed :fingers:

Great news indeed, but still many months away.

C'mon Ron ...... try a smile. It's only broadband (not life and death), and it's going to happen. Please, for me ?? ;)
-
That made me chuckle BS, and I'm sure induced a smile ;D
To be honest I'm not at all fussed about it, just being realistic. It's been so long now what difference is another 3 to 6 months going make, nothing and it may well be irrelevant to me. It probably won't make any difference to my upload, which is where I really need improvements.
By then I may well have the choice of VM. Their FTTP installation has already started nearby, and my immediate area starts at the end of the month.
If I don't go to VM I could switch to a Huawei cab or I even have the option of wireless, but their packages aren't at all appealing.

For completeness, I've added the date to this thread's Subject line. Who knows, there might be another update next month! ;)

At last hopefully some good news. Hopefully 3db will follow soon after. Hopefully we will see more ECI cab users with Ginp enabled on MDWS "soon".
-
Thank you for sharing the updated info :)

thanks for confirming what I said before which you had disagreed with. :)

From that, it sounds like ECI have fixed their side of things, and then put the update through their own set of function & system tests - almost certainly under close supervision by BT.
Now it has been released to BT, they look to be putting it through their acceptance tests, to try to break it. The "extensive and formal" wording suggests that testing is being redone in its entirety, not just targeted regression tests. "Major new functionality" seems a bit of a misnomer here; "fix to old broken functionality" would be better, but the loss of trust means it is being tested as though it is "major new" stuff.
It'll be interesting to see if BT set the initial playing field to be "just" G.INP activation, or if they will try to activate the XdB changes in the same package.
-
Wishful thinking, I doubt they'll even start testing the changeover to 3db on ECI cabinets until G. INP. is fully rolled out.
They haven't even completed the 3db rollout on Huawei cabinets yet.

Wishful thinking, I doubt <snip>
Do you have any factual information that you can share?

With this thread being brought make to the top this afternoon has made me wonder about a post I made earlier - link (http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,19955.0.html). I'll post something over in that thread rather than take this one off topic.

Who said it had been released to bt?? Openreach perhaps..

Yep I think wombat meant BT Openreach.
