Post by: roseway on April 15, 2017, 03:14:43 PM
This version is now withdrawn. Replaced by v5.9.3:
http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,19695.0.html

Changes since v5.9:

- corrected small cosmetic error on webserver configuration page in Windows version
- fixed rare instance of Linux versions of DSLstats failing to start
- all the graphs with Tone number on the X axis can now be set so their X axis values line up
- some rearrangement of the graphs for more logical grouping
- the saved file es.data has been renamed es_data.txt
- added timeout for failed uploads to MDWS
- program time settings are now adjusted when changing between summer and winter time
- the "Test" button in email alerts setup now works when "Send email alerts" option is not enabled
- fixed defective webserver templates for SNRM per band up/down
- the Compress / Expand function with the tone-referenced graphs now uses a popup which adjusts all the relevant graphs, and includes
  some presets

The pre-release version 5.9.2 was downloaded successfully and has replaced the previous -experimental version.

It loaded and executed correctly. After an examination of the new features and adjustments to the configuration, recording was commenced. It will now be allowed to record G.992.3 circuit statistics until the end of today.

Just upgraded to 5.9.2

Just a couple of observations
a) Can anything be done about the popup that flashes up every time upload16 sends any data to MWDS
b) Has the facility to have a separate SNR per tone graph been removed?

a) I only realised this very recently, as I don't use Windows myself. I'm looking at it.
b) This was one of the rearrangements. The first tab is labelled 'SNR' and it has two tabs underneath it, 'SNR Margin' and 'SNR per Tone'.

Eric this pop up window stops my screensaver from starting and if I start it manually it drops it out. I'll have to go back to the previous version until this is fixed.

I'm not sure I understand, Stuart. The popup only appears when you click the "Change tone range" button, after which it should close automatically as soon as you move to a different tab, if you don't manually close it.

Ah OK, I think something else is going on here now. The problem I have is what looks like a dos window opens and closes every time just at the end of the program does its sampling, and it is this which stops the screen saver. It does not happen on 5.9.0 or any previous version. The pop up is so fast I am unable to see what it is doing. I have gone back to 5.9.0 for now and all is fine - no dos window. I am using the Windows version on W7 BTW.

I did not see a pop up when using the change buttons which I did try out.

I understand now. I've been loosely referring to the tone range dialog as a popup, and I thought that this is what you meant. I now know what you mean, and what I hadn't realised is that the issue only appeared with v5.9.2. One of the changes I made between v5.9 and v5.9.2 is a change in the way the MDWS uploads are coded, in order to enable a timeout for situations when MDWS doesn't respond. This change must be responsible for the brief flash of the command line window during the upload with the Windows version.

Now I know where to look I should be able to fix it.

I downloaded the Raspberry Pi version of DSLstats yesterday and installed it earlier today. It appeared to be fully functional, but when I went back to look at the Pi earlier this afternoon, there were a mass of <defunct> upload16.rpi processes in the output from a 'ps ax' command. I certainly had not noticed this with any previous release, so I have now gone back to version 5.9 where this problem does not appear.

Has anyone else using a Raspberry Pi seen this issue ?

Thanks for any comments

Same here. Two Pis both with in excess of 300 of the defunct processes.

Yes, seeing the same.

Yes, I can confirm this on my Linux system. Defunct (zombie) processes don't use any resources - they are simply entries in the process table which didn't get removed when the process was killed. But I'll do what's necessary to deal with them.

Something I spotted when briefly looking at 5.9.2 on both Windows and the RPi was that the modem/router model list no longer appears to explicitly list the VMG8324 as a choice (which I use given I have a VMG8924)

Also, the last name of the list is rather unusual as is the IP address!  :)

Whoops :)

Gremlins have crept into the recent changes to the list. I'll sort it out for the next release, but in the meantime, you can copy the file routers.dat from version 5.9 to replace the file of the same name in v5.9.2, then restart DSLstats. This isn't important functionally, just cosmetic.
