Odd Interleaving.
I have been trying an old DG834GT for two weeks and have noticed that there are two interleaving sets of data.

I switched back yesterday from from forcing the modem on ADSL instead of what it is set to now ADSL2+ the interleaving was 32 D / 2 up
Hopefully in a few days the interleaving will come back down again.
On this modem I have noticed before you get 'G.dmt framing' and 'ADSL2 framing' .
Odd, How can this be ?. :hmm:

Mad illiterate UI. It's usually illegal for hackers old or young to be able to string a few words together to make some plain English sensible text, in my experience. That's why I took charge of tech documentation personally most of the time.
But that doesn't really answer your question- you will need me to explain the cause of the madness?

What strikes me is that at 52dB loss, 5.8dB noise margin, you should be running a whole lot faster than 3meg.

Presumably it's a 3Mb banded WBC (21CN) profile, which explains the high INP value (which is the reason for the high interleaving depth and FEC ratio).

I agree but I cannot get it to run faster.
@ejs re' Presumably it's a 3Mb banded WBC (21CN) profile' is that banded by my isp ?.

The banding will probably have been applied automatically by the DLM, but your ISP can remove it.

I asked my ISP to re-set the DLM and this is there reply.
"I can see that the line has banded itself but it would appear that the line is currently operating at close to its maximum attainable rate. If I make changes to the DLM it could introduce intermittency to the connection."
"The line profile is currently 1M - 2M Medium delay (INP 4) 6dB Downstream, UC Low delay (INP 0) 6dB Upstream (ADSL2+)."

This profile is that what the ISP set up ? or is this the readings from what the DLM has done ?
Could the line profile be improved ?

I'm not sure that I fully understand what your ISP has stated. ???
". . . the line has banded itself . . ." -- I shall assume that it was the DLM process which actually banded the line. In that case the profile quoted must therefore be the result of the DLM's action.
Could the profile be changed? Yes. It really depends upon what your ISP would be willing to do. If they just re-set the circuit, the DLM process would, very likely, intervene once again. If they are able to turn-off the DLM process then the circuit could be set with any parameter that is within the normal range.
Would that be a good thing? That is a question I could not answer. Either you or your ISP will better placed to know the characteristics of the circuit.
One thing to note about the current profile is that it is set to G.992.5 (ADSL2+). With an appropriate modem you can override that and configure the circuit as either G.992.1 (G.Dmt / "ADSL1") or G.992.3 (ADSL2). My personal feeling (and experience based on my own circuit) is that if the typical DS synchronisation speed is less than 8 Mbps then it would be best to configure the circuit as G.992.3 (ADSL2).

I think it was a new chap, I got a more experience chap phone me up today from Eclipse, He said they could do a DLM re-set (In which he did) He could change the target SNR Margin (Left mine at 6dB) They also can set INP ( Set to 4 DS, 2 US).
One thing to note about the current profile is that it is set to G.992.5 (ADSL2+).
Yes I was doing a test, it is back on ADSL2 now.
I did a BT Wholesale speed test and the downstream is the best it has ever been.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 4.7 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 3.6 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.49Mbps

I note the interleaving has come down to 32/8 .

Yes it is, I noticed it peeked at 1.28Mbps on one up load test I did.
I will see how it goes for the next 10 days training .
Also see what Eclipse say in an email they are sending me about the setting they have used, maybe room for a few more tweaks..

Does anyone know if you can have a 3dB Target SNR Margin on the UP stream only, keeping the Down stream at 6dB ?.
I am on 21CN exchange so it would have to be set by my isp.

That's not something that can be changed at either end.

Are the isp able to change the 'power spectral density (PSD) Mask' settings for the DSLAM ?, to turn the wick up a bit.

No. What makes you think yours is somehow on the wrong setting or can be turned up?
