Toss in the higher clocks of Kaby Lake and 10 percent can quickly turn into a 40 percent deficit in some tests. Among the use cases where Intel maintains a decent lead over Ryzen is gaming performance, though this varies by game.

This was my fear, I think they need to somehow get the clocks higher, as intel since sandybridge has been able to do 4.3ghz+, and their latest desktop chips can hit 5ghz without effort.  So matching clock for clock performance isnt enough they also need to be able to clock that high.

However AMD are now reigning on performance per watt and performance per dollar on multithreaded workloads.

I think the main problem for AMD is its always going to be the poor relation when it comes to Intel and Windows PC's. Since Microsoft and Intel got together then the actual hardware is going to match 100% to Intel, were AMD hasnt got that advantage.

AMD need to branch out and back non-Microsoft machines. It would be good for Linux to be the standard OS on machines powered by AMD chips. Even doing a deal with Sony, who have a similar problem when it comes to battling XBone.

AMD CPU's and Graphics chips already power both the Xbox One and PS4/PS4 Pro aswell as the upcoming Xbox Scorpio. Apart from Nintendo I think they have the console market pretty much wrapped up!

Thats good!

I'm not sure how far they can compete in the PC market. I'm sure they will always be in the arena. But these Ryzen CPU's seemed to be their best shot. I think they would be better served in focusing/highlighting on the consoles. Though I guess the problem with the console market is they don't upgrade the consoles enough to keep up with the cpu generations.

Been reading a few Ryzen reviews today, along with AM4 motherboards.

Firstly: Jesus... the comments.  Fanboyism is a horrible thing.  I almost pity journalists and reviewers who write these reviews!

Anyway, these look like nice processors, especially for the price.  But Intel possibly have room in their margins to pull some of their fanicer chips down in price to compete.

I did have a good chuckle at some of the motherboards.  I'm not sure why PC hardware has to look like Christian Bale-era Batman approved the designs.
