This is an old article from September 2016. I thought I'd post it as I don't know how many people know, but apparently the I7 Intel and Zen AMD cpu's if using windows, will ONLY work with Windows 10.

They can still be used by other operating systems. But thought I'd put this out here in case anyone was still using windows 7, 8, 8.1 versions and was thinking of updating the cpu.

I wonder what will happen using one of these CPUs in a Virtual environment running Windows 7 under Linux? I also wonder how long it will be until someone hacks them to run earlier Windows. I am surprised that this is being allowed to happen.

Ah having read the article it says only supported Windows version which is very different from saying it wont run say W7, it might but you'd be on your own.
