Hi

I'm with Uno on their TalkTalk provided service and haven't seen this issue, this may be because Uno early on gets us handed over to Daisy Networks where I've never seen any congestion.

This sounds a similar problem but worse to what Jaydub was reporting on Pulse8.  http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,19108.0.html

Regards

Phil

It's to do with A&A's Telehouse interconnect, so I believe this issue is specific to them.

My issues were resolved as of 1st March.  A&A's issues appear to be still ongoing.

I am not convinced they separate, aaisp have noted its 'partially' fixed.

The interconnect is used by multiple TTB ISPs. Uno themselves noted in a recent status event that TTB were performing a restart of a core router at Telehouse to fix 'an ongoing issue'.

Perfectly happy to be the recipient of a further improvement as and when the Telehouse related issue is fixed.

I have just signed up with Uno and I am experiencing slow single thread downloads on TTB Fibre+ Pro package. Have tried taking my router out of the equation and connecting to a bridged TP-Link WD9970 and using PPPoE on the PC. Still getting 20mbps out of a 40m sync on single thread. Multi thread maxes out the connection.

Tell UNO you are not best pleased, assuming you are not, and vote with your feet if necessary?

Like the thermos flask, 'how does it know'?

I have but I am in a years contract and it might be difficult to get out of. I just want it fixed. I am only 300m from the cabinet and only getting 40m, then to top it off single threads come down at 20m.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the product must be 'as described', but then I am not a lawyer. If you were to ask a lawyer, then it might be said that the ISP has absolutely no chance of enforcing a contract where they are only delivering half the performance described unless in special circumstances (multiple TCP connections). Or they might not. In any case the ISP could do without the bad publicity. I suspect that you do have options. It is up to you.

Although I must stress that I know absolutely zero about the details of the affair, it does seems clear that TalkTalk have hurt a lot of their customers with this demonstration of incompetence. Even if it is not directly their fault, they have taken an outrageous amount of time to debug the issue and were the TT staff concerned working under me, then, well, errm, they wouldn't be. TT's customers have their own reputation to maintain.

Luckily for me, I wasn't affected, because I am on a BTW service.

With your attenuation at 19.9 I dont think your estimation of 300m to be correct. I am around 400-500m and my figure is 14.3  ..

Is that 300m walking the shortest route, as the crow flies or by the route you know your line takes? There can be a huge difference.

Even when you know the route the line takes, sometimes it goes off in the opposite direction 1st. I'm in a wee Cul-de-sac and can follow the BT manholes all the way to the cabinet. I was informed about a year after moving in that my line goes in the wrong direction to the end of the street, then back up the other side, adding 100m.

I would agree that for 300m the attenuation is high, and sync is low. Much more likely the line is considerably longer.

I know the route it is an estimate using google walking maps. The 19.9 I think is a red herring as the Web Gui gives it as 14.7db, think it is a firmware bug.

Admins, my fault for taking us off topic, could ph split the tail end of this thread off if you think it worthwhile?
