Anyone any ideas as to any of this kind of stuff which might run on Windows 2000?

spybot search and destroy should. I'd try malwarebytes too.

Malwarebytes wont install, I'll give spybot a go.

SUPERAntiSpyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispyware.html) is compatible with Win 2000.

I've used it in the past with good results.

Like Malwarebytes, it can be used for periodic scans (free) or continuous monitoring (paid for).
