Title: Trouble reinstalling my photo editor! Win 7 being naughty?
Post by: renluop on January 19, 2012, 08:54:04 PM
When a while ago I managed to wipe all my pics, I also lost my Photoplus X4 editor.

Now I am trying to re-install it from the DVD, but am finding it impossible.

The media autoruns and the Win7 options for it appear (attachment) and I chose WMP. There obvious activity but eventually is a warning, "your security settings do not allow this action.....

I hope someone can give some hints :)  Thanks!

Hi renluop,

Have you tried a right-click & Run as administrator?

If bits of it are still hanging somewhere, maybe you could try to unisnstall it via Control Panel / Programs and Features & start afresh?

Paul.

Thanks for suggestion. Unfortunately "run as administrator" is not available in WMP.

The program is completely off the computer, so in fact it should be a clean install (?). I have done both normal and registry searches to try to spot any left-overs.

Does it have to be installed from DVD?

If not, it MAY just be worth trying to copy the all the DVD's folders to your PC & installing it from there?

Alternatively, "Exploring" the DVD & manually locating the setup program instead of choosing the Autorun option may help.

Overnight I did try to run from the set up prog manually and get indication that the problem may be to do with windows installer. still pressing on.
