Clip Gallery
« on: November 17, 2010, 11:52:20 AM »

A few days ago the attached boxes appeared every time I start the pc, a search in System Configuration Utility start up failed to find them so I was not able to remove them from startup.

Can anyone tell me how to remove these irritants from my desktops please?

Regards,

Peter

artgalry.exe is usually a component part of MS Powerpoint - have you recently deleted Powerpoint?  Could be that reloading it sorts the problem.

I had to reinstall Microsoft Office 2003, so Ill look at that possibility.

Oldun, I do want to uninstall the programme, just need to prevent the information popping up.

If I remember correctly you can prevent any of the extras that you don't want installing when you install the office suite. I think the same goes for uninstalling them. When you plop the cd in you should be given the menu for installing/uninstalling or repairing the suite. Or I'm talking rubbish so just ignore me.  ::)

Peter, first of all don't worry about the size of the images you posted...if you click on the image it jumps up to full size.

As stated, artgalry.exe is a legitimate part of the Office suite of which Powerpoint is a part, but it has been known to hide a nasty trojan......so a good antivirus/anti malware scan would not go astray.

If that comes up clean, fire up Powerpoint, have your Office installation disc handy in case of need, then go Help>detect and repair..............and let it do it's thing. Hopefull it will repair what appears to be a corrupt artgalry.dll file.

Download Malwarebytes and let it do a full scan.

You can get it free and safely from here

Oh dear,  :( .......but let's not give up just yet.

What version of Office do you have ?

Have you installed any new Cliptart recently. ?

Check in your firewall settings to see if there is a permission for any of these to access the internet...if so, block them :- Artgalry 5.0 OLE Server. or Office.
