My IP profile is 6500kbps with downstream synch speed at 7642kbps.  Real downstream bitrate is less than 4000kbps according to the BT speedtester.

Does this suggest that there is a throttle somewhere in the network or contention issues?

I'm with BT and their speeds are getting worse during "peak" times....it sounds like contention to me, or as I suspect, traffic management...you can check your exchange on the "samknows" website for VPN issues

Hi

The best way is to do speed checks over say 3 days at different times of the day and logged results and times .This will give you some indication on whether it is likely to be contention
