I have had cause to reboot my router recently because I changed some of its config. I found that it took much longer than I expected to get authenticated. Looking at the syslog it too 45 seconds from start of it coming up to successfully getting the ADSL bit up, but then took some two minutes to authenticate. I can see that it has to have 3 goes at starting LCP and only the third one actually works and the internet connection starts properly. Has any one any idea why this should be? Bearing in mind that it does authenticate and I'm not having any problems with it dropping either PPP or sync, it usually stays up for weeks on end. I just dont remember it taking this long in the past. The ISP is TalkTalk LLU btw.

Does this happen in this way every time you connect?

Problem is that I dont do it very often, I know its happened a couple of times recently. I'll try again in a day or so to see what happens. I now have my syslog off-loaded to my PC which runs 24x7 so I can review it properly.
