bt Downstream
line Attenuation 39db Approx Line Length 2.8 from exchange
dslMAX 7500kbps ip profile 6500kbps
if i stayed with bt would have been adsl2+(LLU)9568 Throughput 8468 kbps
Actually, you can't say that because the attenuation is calculated differently for ADSL2+ and G.dmt, due to the wider frequency range used by ADSL2+. Therefore one can only make an educated guess at what speed you could have obtained, rather than say "it would have been this". There are other reasons you cannot say this too, but I'll cover those if I need to.
now talktalk
line Attenuation 41 Approx Line Length 3km same exchange goes up 42db why this
adsl2+ (21CN)8640kbps IP Profile should be 7150kbps
adsl2+ (LLU) 8640kbps Throughput 7646kbps
Guessing you have obtained your stats from Kitz then !!
As regards the change in attn values, different router manufacturers implement the calculation in slightly different ways, and this leads to a variance between routers. I have four different routers that all give me different values for downstream attenuation, the best being 39dB, the worst being 44dB. But its the same line and I know my attenuation is solid.
one thing the noise margin on bt was around 6db no problem there
talktalk noise margin is default 10.9 to 16.0db
This is because BT use dynamic line management, whereas talktalk do not. Therefore TT use a higher SNR margin to try to avoid putting people on a default profile which would be unstable. The default profile is 12dB
line test no noise what so ever
one thing id like to no is why as the line Attenuation gone up iv not moved and still useing the same exchange
Already explained that one !
any ideas
Downstream Upstream
Rate (Kbps): 6675 kbps 914 kbps
SNR Margin (dB): 10.7 8.9
Attenuation (dB): 41.0 23.0
Output Power (dBm): 0.0 12.3 ==why is there no power on the download but power on the up load
Because the stats are polled continuously, but the DSLAM in the exchange only transmits the power level when it first connects to the router. Thus, if you watch the router connect you will see the downstream power, but when the figures are refreshed it will show as zero.
Super Frames: 7182891 7182891

RS Uncorrectable Errors: 5694 5
HEC Errors: 19790 0

also when line Attenuation at 41db then come around 17.30 i lose internet modem goes off for about 10mins comes back on i check the settings and find the line as gone upto 42db
Attenuation can change slightly. Unless its varying by 3 or 4dB each way then its not an issue. It could easily be that it is actually 41.4 dB which your router rounded down to 41dB and then remeasured it at 41.6 dB, a variation of 0.2 dB, but rounded it up to 42dB. Simples
and why is there no way of knowing are ip profile like btspeedtest.com shows downstream and ip profile and actaul speed but talk talk will not give that info

any idea
Yeah. TT don't use IP profiles in the same way that BT do, so how would they show them ? This isn't BT and the system is totally different to the way BT run theirs. Talktalk most certainly will give you the info though, all you need do is ask for it

fact i asked talk talk what is the ip profile thay refused to tell me it
