AAISP re BT Latency and packet loss incidents
« on: January 19, 2010, 09:16:48 AM »

Gentlefolk,

The following remarks and the asociated link might become a useful diagnostic tool for all in the affected areas.
It could well pre-empt further investigation on lines that are observed to be under-performing.

It is perhaps worth noting that they claim "yesterday nearly 30% of all of our BT lines were suffering with major congestion or fault issues."
This indeed might be a cause for concern for anybody expecting optimum performance from one of the higher priced providers.
However I am not aware of the service level agreements that are available with BT products.
(I hope Kitz might be able to comment please ?)

It would be even more interesting should AAISP publish similar data for their Be provided services.

Kind regards,
Walter

[info] BT major issues and congestion
We have completed the first stage of our automated analysis of problems within the BT network. The report is generated daily and can be found at :-

https://clueless.aaisp.net.uk/congestion.cgi
Naturally this is has been made available to BT as well.

We are working on making more detailed reports showing the exact levels of loss and latency at different times of day to give customers a better idea of the impact of these issues.

You will note that yesterday nearly 30% of all of our BT lines were suffering with major congestion or fault issues. This is likely to affect other ISPs using 21CN back-haul in similar proportions and suggests that 21CN is, as a whole, still not working properly.

We are continuing to work closely with BT to get this sorted as soon as possible, and we welcome feedback from other ISPs on this.
