When I open Control Panel and then Add/Remove, the A/R list take forever to  populate, and on some occasions I've given up !    I don't have  'show updates' ticked ...  and I have ridded my system of several programmes  I no longer need/use but the list  is still extremely sluggish, taking up to 10 minutes !      The rest of the system is speeding along.

Is there any known 'fix' for this please ?

One possibility is that it could be a graphics problem, my suggestion would be to delete your graphics software, re-boot the PC and use the windows default graphics software for a few minutes.

Try closing down the PC a couple of times before you either install/update your graphics software from disc, or go to windows updates which will more than likely detect your graphics card drivers are out of date.

Anti-virus software can sometimes cause this to happen.

Thank you for both replies.

OF   I had a look via Device Manager at the Graphics Card   .... then asked it to update the driver, which it did  ....  after re-starting the computer and testing the Add Remove it has certainly made a difference, and I think you might have had the  answer .  Merci Beaucoup  Smiley

............ it has certainly made a difference,

Yes, but did it solve the problem?
If not the problem will be because of something that has been removed from within the graphics software and a "Update" may not fully resolve the problem.

To cure the problem fully, you will still need to remove the software and then reload it again.
It will then reload any parts that were previously missing.

Yes it does appear to have solved it OF  .. as I say it's made a difference, in that it is now populating quickly, which was my main concern.   Smiley
