Why would you want a copy on your HDD?
There are many reasons, but one in particular is if you wanted to convert the DVD into a say .avi file (or different format), this can take hours.
So it not only ensures a nice smooth transfer when being converted but also saves your DVD drive from excess wear and tear.

The following instructions will show you how to get a DVD movie onto your HDD
It will also remove of any protection and make it "Region Free" in same the process.                             

1. Open DVD Shrink, Then, click "Edit"

2. Next  click "Preferences"
Select  "DVD-5 (4.7GB)" from the drop-down menu and then
click "OK"

3. Next, click "Open Disc"
Point to your DVD drive.
DVD Shrink will then analyse the disc.

4. When completed, you'll get presented with the following screen:

5. In the left-hand pane, highlight the root of the "DVD Structure like so:
At this point, you can also choose to remove various Audio tracks and/or
Subtitles from the disc. Simply un-checked the stuff you don't want to keep.

When you've got things set to your liking, click the "Backup!" button found on the toolbar.
             
6. You'll now be presented with a new window.
Simply set things found in the various tabs as shown below:

7. Target Device:
Select, "Hard Disk Folder" then "Browse" to where you want to save the backup DVD.

11. Once you've got everything set, click "OK" to start transferring.

12. DVD Shrink will now copy the new DVD onto your HDD.

13. When it's finished, you'll see the following message.

14. Click "OK" to finish.
