@j0hn
pigr8 from the italian forum, could probably buy a few DGA4130 from here:
http://www.dck.it/accessori-tim-smart-modem-plus-ag-evo-dga4130ti-modem-fibra-300-mega.1.1.936.gp.72326.uw
and send them to you. You can get in touch with him for the delivery etc...

some people in the italian forum are using it in bridge mode, personnaly i never tried. But why use it in bridge mode ? This modem can do everything...

I will use it as a router when we have an easy way of implementing openvpn client policy based routing and setting safe/search/time limits etc etc eg Lede.

did you try this ?
https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/vpn.openvpn
or do you consider this as the "not easy way" ?

No shdf but I might try it if I get the time, should this work I think users on the Italian forum were taking about package incompatibilities?

@roseway
would it be possible to create a dslstats daemon version, which would run inside the modem, that way no need to have a PC running  :)
or maybe a scheduled script with cron...

If I were 20 years younger I might have a go at that, but not now, I'm afraid.

Another option:
Use a Raspberry Pi Zero W running DSLStats, currently costs £9.60 + a Micro SD memory card.
Unit is so small could possibly fit inside the router case & pick up 5 V. power, have not tried this as yet.

Or, put Rpi Zero in case, £15.60 with case and stick (velcro) to rear of router. (the method I use)
Very low power requirement, I use an old mobile phone charger, the recommended 2 Amp PSU is only approx. a fiver but deemed overkill.
RPi Zero W has built in WiFi, no need for an ethernet direct connection which would involve buying a micro USB to RJ-45 LAN adaptor.
Comm's. to the RPi by WiFi using VNC viewer.

I have used this very cheap option for my daughter's line (MDWS cruth211) and son's line (MDWS smpay-37), has worked very well to date.

There is a Docker version of DSLStats, would a router be powerful enough to run that?

Note, as described, the only connection between RPi and router is by WiFi, no USB port required unless you are suggesting getting the 5 V. power for the RPi from a USB socket, would very likely work, 500 ma. max. should be OK, neither of the routers in my installations had USB sockets so this did not occur to me, good idea !

sorry i wasn't clear enough. what i wanted to say is about a daemon or a script that sends the dsl data to www.mydslwebstats.co.uk
Or capture the data into a log file that you can read with dslstats...

Strangely enough, it has turned out that both the routers I used do have USB sockets, Billion 8800NL & 8800NLr2 which I obtained SH from forum members for the applications, will try to power the RPi Zero W's from USB so saving a PSU, using a simple mobile phone charge cable and making the installation even more compact, many thanks for the suggestion.

Which is exactly what the Docker version of Dslstats does for me, I run it it headless on my QNAP NAS.
