BT IP Profile problem - perhaps
« on: June 09, 2017, 03:31:27 PM »

as i can't run flash I tried this site to check it https://windows.mouselike.org/be/index.asp?DoAction=BrasChecker
and it reported this
The current Downstream BRAS rate is: 50.17 Mbps
The current Upstream BRAS rate is: 20 Mbps

but my sync speed is 54.19
note that the reported profile ties in with the speed test results

Are you on a "Retransmission High" profile? Ask Plusnet to give you the results of a FTTC GEA service test, which shows the profile details.

If you are on a Retransmission High profile, then the IP Profile is a lower percentage of the sync speed, by design. Actually the GEA test will report a lower speed than the "sync speed", and the IP profile will be 96.8% of the lower speed, but again, I think this is by design, and not a problem with the system.

that explains it - given the very low noise margin 1.4dB it may be worth a resync
note that the noise margin is low is because the Billion router resyncs much quicker than most after a power cut (default value is 3dB)
