Can any of you clever people help me get my VMG8324 to tell the time?  I can muck about with the UI as much as I like and hammer Apply but it still thinks its 2015.  Maybe something to do with the fact that it is in bridge mode? I dunno.

Anyways, perhaps there is something clever I can do via CLI or something?  I can't seem to find an option to put in the time manually via the UI, I'm running 1.00(AAKL.12)C0 firmware.

Correct on both counts, unfortunately I had already checked the manual and visited the page you reference, in fact in my post above which you quoted I actually show a picture of exactly this screen and also explain that I don't seem to be able to find any way to manually enter the time.

I am sure I am doing something wrong, but simply quoting me RTFM isn't going to help much.

For the record :

1) I telnet into it at 192.168.1.2
2) I login to CLI as admin
3) I invoke BusyBox (whatever that is) using : echo && bash
4) I use 'date' Applet to change the time : busybox date -s 2016.03.03-21:05

Just goes to show, blindly following instructions without knowing what you are doing can yield results, Hurrah!  Imagine what other random fun I can have playing with the CLI, hehe

I went with the most recent firmware in the end. I have the issue with the scheduler too in that it appears to keep the scheduler active despite the the scheduled period expiring. I too set this to switch the wireless off. However, I can just stop the scheduler manually and re-activate the wireless function manually without having to reboot the gateway. Far from idea of course. Hope they fix this in a future FW release as it's a very useful feature.

Re-synced the 8924 last night (when my SNRM is highest oddly) and I'm hitting 18803Kb/s on the down link. Previous best with my trusty 7800N Billion was 18035Kb/s. Love this device!

Sorry, bit late on this as I notice you have found a solution, but I thought it may be worth posting in case anyone else is having difficulty setting time. 
Im not using bridge mode, but these are my settings from within the GUI, which work for me:-


I use the IP addresses for NTP servers at mcc.ac.uk & london.telehouse. 

130.88.203.12
194.164.127.6 

That way if DNS isnt working - or if the router attempts to get time before DNS is allocated - then it should still be able to access a time server.

iirc by default it attempts to get time from various listed ntp servers - Im quite certain that my default was set to tummy.com.  I found that when looking at my logs there used to be long lists of synchronising with tummy and sunsynchronising with tummy.com at various times which appeared to have nothing to do with me rebooting or resyncing the modem.

Since putting in the IP addresses I only get the synchronised messages after I've reconnected and Ive never had to set anything within the CLI for anything time related.

Your way is much better than my sledgehammer CLI method, I'll give it a try too

Sorry Im out of suggestions.   Its an old habit (preference) of mine that I always use those same settings whenever I set up a router no matter what make/model. 

It may be an idea if when KIAB sets his up if he leaves it at the default of what I think was tummy and see if his router picks up time ok.   
If KIAB's works straight out of the box and assuming he isnt putting it into bridge mode, then it possibly may be something to do with chunkers' being bridged?

Saying that just as an experiment I switched mine back to tummy.com and took out my custom settings.    It seems ok for me here.

Won't be until about 8pm tonight, might be later, has I'm all behind today with other things, had I known the structural engineer wasn't going to turn up today, I would have done it this morning.
