ECI dslam upgraded
« on: February 04, 2016, 05:18:12 AM »

ok this morning i lost sync,  the line came back with worse stats but same attainable,  its down now so i can bring it back at my old sync speed

previous chipset version was 0xb204
new chipset version is 0xb206

the problem is my upstream has gone to crap with the snrm fluctuating quite badly i am lucky i have such a big buffer,  the bitswaps as a result are much more acteand it now has comparable ES to my downstream,  am guessing the tie pair isnt clean contact after they reconnected it

I can't comment on what was going on with the cabinet. Some of the variation suggests a physical change, not just a firmware change.

However, I notice a significant difference in one item in those posts: The aggregate TX power.

While the TX power in each band has stayed roughly the same, the single aggregate has changed from 13.6dBm to 4.8dBm. It doesn't really make sense...

yeah its my opinion the cards have been changed, the outage lasted a while and the snrm fluctuations is probably the result of other cables been reconnected after me.

Its my gut guess only.

I did watch the cabinet across the road from me for a bit afterwards but no one from BT showed up there.

Does anyone in BT work at 5am? Seems a bit unlikely to me I must say.

of course, they not going to do dslam maintenance in middle of the day ;)

also it was 3am :)

the later outage at 5am was me leaving the modem disconnected as I wanted to recover my sync speed to 72mbit and I left it off for 30+ mins. (also that I was hoping the instability was temporary and to not dirty my DLM stats, I was right was temporary).

you suggesting the chipset version change was fairy magic? :)

I think it may just have been an automated firmware update rolled out.

yeah but this isnt done by regular engineers, is specialist staff with access to the cabinet.

I have witnessed them before at dusk hours, also witnessed VM staff at their cabinets also.

Of course it is possible this was some kind of remotely done work I agree on that.

I note BorisTheSpider also showed 0xb206 on his new FTC line a couple of weeks ago..

Same here - resync in the early hours and just had another one about an hour ago. After the resync in the early hours Power went from 12.7/6.6 to 6.4/6.4. After the resync an hour ago, power has gone to 5.8/5.7.

Max attainable has gone from 60/19 to 64/20.

Also, chipset is now 0xb206.

Very interesting. If you look at Chrysalis' stats on http://www.mydslwebstats.co.uk/ the U/S and D/S power outputs are now exactly the same, identical.

In fact, there are now 3 people on the above site with the low but identical power outputs on ECI cabs. One Sky, one BTW and one Plusnet customer.
