Normalise wiring
« on: September 19, 2012, 06:08:32 PM »

My friend is with O2. His current "master socket" is not of the newer type, additionally the wiring is left (including line box) loosely coiled up on the floor of his bedroom,
with more wiring coming out to 3 further extension sockets (I should have taken a picture :-[ ) how can I get O2 to normalise the master socket to NTE5/A.
I've just spent 1 1/2 hours trying to get them to see sense, but seem to be getting nowhere  .
O2 seem to suggest it's ok for an electrician to fiddle with a BT line box to replace it with a NTE5/A.
If they send someone out it's going to cost £130+
Any suggestions?

Robin

Someone here should be able to advise on the exact "magic words" he has to use to get O2 to get Openreach to "regularise" the installation. This should be free.
